turning the stone

picaresque mini-arcs mirrors
miniaturizes the dual narrative psyche

bladder pieces come together over my face
laughing talking clog the sponge with with blood
walking swords entry

stop searching rosa for the golden ass
actively pursue happiness about change
perfect life better however

not thirsty today

i ain't thinkin'
bout much
but tangle bush
and bramble weed

flys on my legs
wasps on my nose
leaves
blasting yellows
and burnished deep reds

tupelo

yellow dogs
babies wide eyed
french toast railing about butter
picture frame empty
sun bearing down

been given another day

there is an end

i had it all mapped out
philosophy
problems
solutions
in the end
it has been about beer and pussy

ranch

the dog
open road rolling
dirt
blooming high plains flowers
brush
horizon
barbed wire picket fence stretched ahead
like eyes lashes
against a cornflower blue sky

brite clouds in small bunches
hid the afternoon sun
edges lit up

we turned back
complex family barbecue
i ate too much

hours before we would leave
i should have stayed home

the walk was worth it

one morning

sitting by the water
mist tumbles
over the foreground of water
the backdrop is
new spring trees
billowing fresh green

close to the water's surface
fly small black birds
maybe a flock of a hundred
tiny wings spotted white
they flew inches from the surface

never did they dive in
or touch the lake

below the fog they darted
a mating ritual?

i walked away
watching some more
we were solitary
on this cool june morning
my dog "scotch," and i
and this bevy of dark black birdies

come don quixote

so the day moves on
no incredible happenings
a bit of wind
a bit of rain
sparrows litter the concrete
at this patio cafe
my dog eats some ice
cold coffee satisfies
a long walk ahead
tree lined streets
squirrels
pigeons
small children
people doing lawn and garden chores
america stands still
feel no pain
come don quixote
tilt a few windmills

actively pursue happiness

upper class life
venerable image prayer
perfect about change
no tricks
they are told
just the events wished to convey
real life leads as an ass
a different kind of escape
urinating witches
rescue spirals down
fragile too
magical potions
actively pursue happiness
golden into bed
being eaten kind of hurt (hulking legs
deliverance hope
a rose in search of a rose
clever surprise thwarted
beatings act out irony
never fly down
entrance
or to exit

Re: the below "bury yourself"

this is a good example of
atomic poetry
my younger son
robert payne
sent me an email of 4 poems (molecules)
i took some key words and phrases
and made one molecule
of the the key words and phrases (atoms)
hence the dual attribution

the awkish pear fell wildly
by the dog's face
and the dog (like the sun)
turned yellow
and barked

and the people at the bar
kept drinking
and i walked to my apartment
to watch television
do laundry
write poems
watch the yellow dog
bark at the noonday sun

jesus
things are weird
like a bright pinwheel
and orange cotton candy
and guess my weight
and bob barker
and the tender little roses
and sea-green fallen fruit
and all the sallow people
smoking rolled tobacco or pipes
drooling
as they wait for the morning ride

Re: the below poem "poet's death"

this is another example
of atomic poetry
in this example
i use my older son,
woodward hazard's
greek paper
(graduate school
classics effort).
the molecule is his short paper
about of sympotic poets.
i extracted the words (atoms)
that particularly seemed interesting
and re-combined or re-arranged them
to form a new molecule
in the form of a poem
i added an ending
and there we have it
jointly attributed.

gishi and his son

why two poets?
"nothing was there,"
was written by gishi bian
using a creative writing paper
written by his son robert payne
hence the dual attribution
it is an example of atomic poetry
taking the basic skeleton of his paper
gishi bian pulls key words and ideas
and re-arranges them and re-combines them
in new and interesting ways
adding and subtracting words and ideas
in a stream of consciousness manner
the body of the poem is 90% representative
of the original paper
the ending was added
but the poem resembles the paper (the molecule) very little
although most of the words (or atoms)
were taken from the paper
